MedIterranean MosaIc

This piece is an abstract exploration of the coastal architecture that defines my childhood memories. I wanted to strip away the literal details of the houses and focus entirely on the rhythmic interaction between the sun-baked terracotta roofs and the cooling blues of the Adriatic. It represents the beautiful, organized chaos of a town built on layers of light and history. To me, it is the feeling of looking down at home and seeing a puzzle that has finally come together.
I have brought my life this far
To this spot where the soul struggles
Near the shore, near the stone
The white stone and the blue sea.

In this work, I wanted to capture the imposing silhouette of our ancient coastal fortifications as they emerge from the morning light. I used energetic, sketch-like lines to represent the ‘scaffolding’ of our history—a structure that is constantly being reimagined by the sun. To me, this citadel isn’t just stone; it is a living sentinel that stands firm between the wild, deep blue of the sea and the warm safety of the people it protects.
