The Golden Vespers

This tower is a sentinel of the Adriatic, standing firm as it has for centuries against the salt and the wind. I wanted to paint it at the exact moment the evening sun turns the surrounding air into a thick, golden honey, making the white limestone glow with a spiritual warmth. It is a portrait of silence and gratitude, where the earth reaches up to meet the fading light. To me, this represents the quiet strength of our heritage that continues to watch over us.

Vesper of the Sun

I wanted to capture the imposing silhouette of our coastal fortifications as they first catch the morning light. The loose, energetic lines represent the ‘living’ nature of these stones; they are not just ruins, but structures that continue to guard our memories. It is a study of how history stands firm against the vast, blue uncertainty of the horizon.
